1st Grade Christmas Store

One of my favorite days at IGEMS (it's hard to pick just one :-), is shopping at the Christmas store.  I was amazed my first year here that we do this tradition.  I think it is wonderful!  I thoroughly enjoy watching and listening to my students pick gifts out for the special people in their lives.  They put so much thought into it.  This event gets me into the true Christmas spirit.  We ask each student to bring in 50 cents to donate to the wonderful first graders who make this event happen.  Each student gets to pick out two gifts.  Please have your 50 cents in as soon as possible, and no later than Tuesday, December 8.  'Tis the season!

Your child received a Scholastic book order bundle on Monday.  If you wish to purchase, please return the slip with payment or go online to Scholastic Book Club to place your order by WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 25.  Remember to enter our classroom activation code: NTLQ7.  Books will be back in time for the holidays!  If you want the books to be a Christmas gift, please email me and I will hold the books for you to pick up instead of sending them home with your child.  By purchasing books for your child, you also help our classroom get free books!

K-2 Christmas Concert

Please mark your calendars and free your schedules for our Christmas Concert on December 17 at 2:30 P.M.  Keep an eye out for an all school permission slip for older siblings to leave class to attend the concert.  We would like all older siblings to stay in class until 2:15.  Parents can reserve their seats and then one adult will need to go get the older siblings from their classrooms.  We hope this organization helps our concert run smoothly.  Thanks for your cooperation in advance!

PeAnUt BuTtEr JeLlY tImE!

2nd grade students at Iowa-Grant Elementary have been reading and discovering about how we can help others in our community and world.  They decided it was time to put their learning to work. The students began a Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive in their classrooms.  Over a 2 week period, 54 jars of jelly and 67 jars of peanut butter were collected for a grand total of 121 jars.  Diane Mench, Kathy Stepanek and Connie Gard gladly accepted this donation on behalf of the Ss. Anthony & Philip Mobile Food Pantry. Pictured are students from Mrs. Liddicoat, Mrs. Peat, Mrs. Fitzsimons, and Mrs. Leix’s classrooms. Thank you to all the families who were able to donate!

Veterans Day Program

Tomorrow we will honor all who served our country at our Veterans Day program.  It is open to the public to join us in the IGEMS gym at 10:15.  The program will be approximately 45 minutes long.  Thank you, Veterans!
